TADA 2025
BUILDING OF THE YEAR
Project Description:
JS House reinterprets the traditional Indonesian long house for a modern tropical setting, emphasizing harmony between people and landscape. Elevated to unlock infinite views of the lake, its orientation was carefully adjusted for optimal sun, airflow, and scenery. The design follows passive solar principles, ensuring low energy use and minimal maintenance over time. We aimed to enhance cross-ventilation and daylight while creating a compact, efficient home tailored to the client’s lifestyle. Adjusted floor levels maintain a clear line of sight from entrance to lake, offering layered perspectives through the space. Living and family areas were placed upstairs to encourage connection, while service and utility spaces remain below in an effort to balance openness with privacy. Slim aluminum frames by TOSTEM support expansive glass panels that allow natural light in and frame the landscape. Chosen for the design and performance, TOSTEM products reflect our commitment to quality and aesthetics while supporting our vision of seamless indoor-outdoor living.
