Project Description:

FI House is a private residence designed by RUANGRONA, located within a lush residential complex in North Jakarta, where the climate is warm and humid throughout the year. Responding to this context, the house is designed with a biophilic approach, integrating natural elements into the living space to create a healthier and more productive environment The design features seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces. This is achieved by utilizing large windows, sliding doors, and open-plan layouts that allow natural light and air to flow freely throughout the house. Upon entering the house, the soothing sound from the pond introduces a calming transition from the urban surroundings. At the center of the house lies a semi-outdoor inner courtyard, serving as the focal point of the design. This courtyard not only brings greenery and a sense of calm but also enhances natural lighting and air circulation throughout the entire house. The house is designed with a clear vertical zoning. The ground floor accommodates communal functions, including the foyer, living, and dining areas. The second floor is dedicated to private spaces such as private office and bedrooms. At the top, the third floor serves as a multifunctional spaces, housing gym room, entertainment area, and rooftop. The public areas and circulation are arranged around the inner courtyard, creating an open and uninterrupted visual connection throughout the house. This layout encourages natural interaction between family members while still providing privacy where needed. The design also focuses on reducing physical and visual barriers between the interior and exterior, allowing the spaces feel larger and more connected. The inner courtyard plays a big role in this, acting as a green heart that connecting parts of the house together visually. The massing of the house, dominated by basic geometric forms without prominent elements, finished with concrete, wood, and stone, is designed to harmonize with the verdant surroundings. Used wood-plank-cast concrete walls add industrial character while maintaining a strong connection to the natural environment and sustainability. Neutral-colored elements and natural materials are also brought into the interior, creating a seamless transition that blends with the exterior design. The interior is designed simply, offering a calm and comfortable atmosphere for the residents. In turn, this house is intended to be a calm and verdant residence, offering a peaceful place to live and rest amidst the hustle and bustle of Jakarta. We minimize the building footprint, allowing more green area to maximize the soil infiltration. With TOSTEM, we can also maximize air circulation of the house, to reduce the use of air conditioner. We always chose TOSTEM because we knew that TOSTEM quality and system will work perfectly in this biophilic concept house.
